“Health and lifestyle advice for beautifully imperfect women like us”
We know that there are days when you wish you could feel better. Even a tiny bit better…
You’d glow with health, with love and with enthusiasm and feel utterly blessed because you have so many wonderful things in your life to be thankful for.
You’d deal with problems, confrontations and challenges with grace and finally have that self-doubt, those anxious thoughts and those low moods under control.
You’d feel young, slim and sexy again, no matter what your ‘real’ age. You’d leap out of bed with a spring in your step and feel eager to see what the day held.
You’d feel pain-free, joyful and have a fire burning in your chest that would keep you feeling young, enthusiastic and full of life!
Life would feel great like this, wouldn’t it?
You’ve tried to feel better
But it’s not like you haven’t tried. You’ve been pushed to the edge time and time again and vowed countless times that you’d finally make a go of it. You’d finally make it work. You’d finally break out of this rut and get your health back into shape.
So, you did your research, you read a ton of books, magazine articles and blog posts. You tuned in to podcasts and you’ve even paid attention to the health advice that popped up on This Morning from time to time.
Then you decided to act. Anything was worth a try if it could help you feel better, right?
So, you tried intermittent fasting, but you just felt ravenous all the time…
You tried Keto but you just couldn’t quit those delicious veggies…
You tried meditating daily but you just got bored and fidgety…
You went vegan and did nothing but crave bacon butties and cheese all day…
You quit social media completely but missed those cute cat pictures and seeing what your friends were up to…
You even set your alarm for 5 am and went for a run, did yoga, wrote in your journal and did your best to live the kind of ultra-disciplined life that you ‘knew’ would finally make you happy.
And at the same time, you still had to do your best to juggle your responsibilities, take care of the kids, manage your obligations at work, take care of aging parents, get the weekly food shopping done, keep the house clean and get enough sleep…phew! It’s enough to make anyone feel exhausted.
It didn’t work
So, it should come as no surprise that, despite all that time and effort you invested in trying to feel better, nothing really changed.
It all got too overwhelming, you ran out of energy and enthusiasm and you just didn’t get the results you were hoping for.
Even if you did manage to keep up, you ended up feeling burnt out and exhausted, suffering with ‘mysterious’ illnesses like fibromyalgia, fatigue, reoccurring candida and a whole host of other things.
After all this effort, you find yourself back at square one, feeling even more like a failure than ever before. You resign yourself to staying stuck and feeling fed up, frumpy, unsexy, old and worthless.
But there is a better way.
Small steps every day
Here at Just Good Living, we believe that it’s the smaller things that make a difference.
By being kinder to ourselves and taking tiny steps in the right direction, we can find lasting health and happiness without ever feeling overwhelmed or ready to quit.
You can expect down-to-earth and helpful advice from real people like you who have been where you are and know what really works.
We’re not going to try to sell you stuff that doesn’t work, drown your inbox with spam or recommend extreme lifestyles that are unrealistic. There’s already enough of that out there on the web.
We love to share ideas, resources and products that have been tried and tested, products that we believe in, nothing less.
Our founder, Kate is a recovering perfectionist, a highly sensitive person (HSP) and an introvert who has struggled with fatigue.
At a young age, she became disillusioned with conventional medicine and discovered that the best ‘cure’ for her chronic mysterious pains wasn’t medicine but eating a healthier, more nutritious diet.
Through a great deal of trial and error, she discovered the strong connection that exists between body and mind and learned how she could make easy lifestyle changes and transform her health.
But much more than that, she learned that the only way she’d ever change her life for the better was to do something slightly controversial; forget perfection.
Yes, you did read that right. Despite everything she’d learned over the years about health and wellness, she realised that our constant striving for perfectionism is one of the only things that stands between where we are now and our ideal lives.
We don’t have to be perfect vegans, perfect yogis or perfect at recycling to be happy, successful people.
We can still eat a (free-range) egg, skip yoga class from time to time and buy that loaf of bread wrapped in plastic whilst also be taking positive steps towards living a healthier, happier, more conscious life. Tiny steps are always better than nothing.
Now it’s her mission to help women live the life they want without getting too wrapped up in perfection. Perfectionism can hold us back, prevent us from living our dreams and making lasting changes to our lives.
Together, we believe that we should never resign ourselves to sickness, unhappiness or unfulfilling lives. Life is for the living. There are always new avenues to explore and new approaches to try so we should move forward in life with an open mind.
We also believe that great things can be achieved with small steps. It’s okay to make small changes to live a more healthy, happy and eco-friendly lifestyle.
You don’t need to do everything at once.
